The Irish section of GEMME announces its next event, which under the title "Bringing Restorative Justice Home" is an Online Panel Discussion on European developments in Restorative Justice and their implementation in Spain and Ireland that will take place on Wednesday, 2 March 2022 at 4.30pm. (Dublin time) / 5,30pm (Madrid time).
Biographical Note on Speakers
Judge Patricia McNamara
Judge of the District Court in Dublin with extensive experience in the use of Restorative Justice within the criminal justice system. EJTN appointed expert on Restorative Justice in the KUL RE-JUSTICE Judicial Training in the field of Restorative Justice, funded by the European Union's Justice Programme.
Helena Soleto Muñoz
Professor, University Carlos III Madrid, Criminal & Procedural Law Department
Permanent Advisor of the Spanish Codification Commission, Ministry of Justice. Director of the Court-connected program in Mediation and Restorative Justice in Getafe and Leganes (Madrid), President of the ADR section (Mediation) of the Madrid Bar Association. Expert on ADR and RJ, COE (Council of Europe). Author of eight books, more than fifty book chapters and 30 periodicals. Her Spanish and European research topics include victims’ compensation, restorative justice and reparation to victims of sexual violence.
Dr. Ian Marder
Assistant Professor in Criminology, Maynooth University, Ireland
In 2017/18, Dr Marder worked for the Council of Europe to draft the Recommendation concerning restorative justice in criminal matters. His work focuses primarily on researching and supporting the implementation of restorative justice across Europe
